Dr. Emery Taylor is the founder of Crozet Family Dental in Crozet, VA, where he has been caring for patients and their families since September 1975. Over the course of more than five decades, Dr. Taylor has built this practice from a single-chair office into one of the most trusted dental practices in the Charlottesville and Albemarle County area. His dedication to honest, personalized care has earned the loyalty of generations of patients throughout central Virginia.
Dr. Taylor grew up in Staunton, Virginia and attended Virginia Tech, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He then went on to the School of Dentistry at the Medical College of Virginia of Virginia Commonwealth University, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
After completing dental school, Dr. Taylor served as a dental officer in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Hamilton in New York. His military service instilled a discipline and commitment to service that he brought with him when he and his family moved to Crozet to open his own practice. In September 1975, he opened the doors of what would become Crozet Family Dental on Three Notch’d Rd — and he has been serving this community ever since.
Dr. Taylor’s approach to dentistry has always been rooted in relationships. He believes that getting to know his patients as people — their families, their concerns, their goals — is just as important as any clinical skill. This philosophy has shaped the culture of Crozet Family Dental from its earliest days and continues to guide the practice today under the team of doctors he helped assemble.
Over the past 50 years, Dr. Taylor has treated thousands of patients from Crozet, Charlottesville, Waynesboro, and the surrounding communities. Many of the families he sees today are the children and grandchildren of his original patients — a testament to the trust and continuity he has built. He takes great pride in watching the practice grow while maintaining the personal, small-town feel that first drew families to his door.
Dr. Taylor provides preventive dental care and restorative services, drawing on decades of hands-on experience to deliver careful, reliable treatment. His patients appreciate his calm demeanor, thorough explanations, and willingness to take the time needed to get things right.
Dr. Taylor is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, and the Shenandoah Valley Dental Association. He is also a member and past president of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Dental Society, where he has contributed to the advancement of dental care standards across the region.
Outside the office, Dr. Taylor is a proud family man. He is married, has two grown daughters, and has a granddaughter. His roots in the Shenandoah Valley run deep, and his connection to the Crozet and Albemarle County community extends far beyond the walls of his dental practice.
