We are a mercury-free practice. However, many people still have silver/mercury fillings in their mouths from years past. These fillings are not particularly pleasing to the eye, and we know that by unavoidable design, silver/mercury fillings ultimately result in a weaker tooth structure. Porcelain inlays and Tooth Colored Restorations (onlays) create fillings that are not only beautiful (or unnoticeable) but also add strength to weakened teeth. These restorations are esthetically pleasing and very strong thanks to new bonding technologies. Silver fillings have many drawbacks. The edges of the silver filling can wear down, become weak or break.

Our History

With the practice previously being Dr. Emery Taylor, DDS, Dr. Emery Taylor spent all eight years of his schooling at Virginia Tech, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in biology, and then with a doctor of dental surgery.

He then served as a commissioned dental officer for the United States Army, being stationed in Fort Hamilton, New York.

It was from there that he moved with his family to Crozet, Virginia, and founded his dental practice in 1975.

Dr. James Willis then completed the Crozet Family Dental transition with Dr. Taylor in 2012 and spearheaded the practice into becoming the premier Crozet dentists choice in the surrounding area.
